I don’t know why, but a certain snack has recently come to my attention. It might be because we now serve it bowl by bowl to each table at work, or that I can get a free serving-size bag of popcorn on campus, but popcorn has been a go-to snack for me.
This isn’t a bad thing. Popcorn has so many health benefits. I mean, it can be considered the salad of the junk food world. It’s a source of whole grain, it is gluten-free, and it is a great alternative to potato chips or fries or cookies. It’s also mad cheap. I really enjoy it.
I think popcorn has recently sparked my interest because it has replaced the Chex Mix we usually serve at work. But this popcorn isn’t bland or boring…it is made with olive oil, nutritional yeast, sugar, and salt. What an interesting, addictive, and DELICIOUS combination.
There is a place on campus that gives out free popcorn. You can add flavors to it too, to make it more interesting if plain popcorn isn’t your thing. Butter, salt, cinnamon, nutritional yeast (my favorite), sugar, garlic powder. You really can’t go wrong.
Seriously though, if you’re going to get hooked on a snack, it better be healthy and it better taste good. Popcorn is a great snack, because you can eat a whole cup of it for just about 30 calories. I definitely recommend.
